BOERTH, ROBERT C., AND JAMES MT. COVELL. Mechanical performance and ejkiency of the leji ventricle during ventricular stimuluhn. Am. J. Physiol. 221(6): 16864691. 1971.-The effects of electrical stimulation of the right atrium and right ventricular outflow tract on left ventricular performance and efficiency were compared in dogs in the isovolumic left ventricle in which end-diastolic volume was constant. During right ventricular outflow-tract pacing there were significant decreases in peak left ventricular pressure, peak left ventricular wall stress, and peak left ventricular dP/dt. Despite these decreases, myocardial contractility did not appear to be changed by right ventricular stimulation since there was no downward shift of the stress-velocity relationship at low stresses. During right ventricular outflow-tract stimulation myocardial oxygen consumption (MVo2) was unchanged, and the efficiency of the isovolumically contracting left ventricle was decreased. It is concluded that electrical stimulation of the right ventricular outflow tract produces an abnormal pattern of contraction which depresses the function and efficiency of the left ventricle. The mechanism of this may be through altered synchronism of fiber contraction without an alteration of myocardial inotropic state.

Improvement of Left Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD) in Artificial Heart Using Particle Swarm Optimization
In this approach, the Left ventricular assist pump for patients with left ventricular failure isused. The failure of the left ventricle is the most common heart disease during these days. Inthis article, a State feedback controller method is used to optimize the efficiency of a samplingpump current. Particle Swarm Algorithm, which is a set of rules to update the position andvelocity, is applied...

BACKGROUND Left ventricular mechanical efficiency is one of the most important measures of left ventricular pump performance. Several clinical studies, however, have shown that mechanical efficiency does not fall substantially as the heart fails. To clarify the insensitivity of mechanical efficiency to the change in pump performance, we analyzed human left ventricular mechanical efficiency, app...

متن کاملThe effect of high-intensity interval training on the expression of protein kinase B (Akt gene) in the left ventricle of male rats with type 2 diabetes
Introduction: The term diabetes heart in diabetic patients includes pathologic left ventricular hypertrophy. Stimulation of the signaling and molecular pathways of cardiac myocardial remodeling through exercise in this regard can be considered as a therapeutic strategy for physiological development of the left ventricle. In the present study, the effect of 8 weeks of high intensity interval tra...
